Centenary of Pierre Teilhard de Chardin's Ordination and First Mass
The centenary of Father Teilhard de Chardin’s ordination and of his First Mass has been celebrated at Hastings (Sussex) on 25th and 26th of August.
It was beautifully organized by the British Teilhard Association under the leadership of its President Revd Canon Alan Nugent, who is also the acting President of Centre Européen Teilhard – CET and about 50 people were able to attend, among whom a little less than 10 from the continent. The anniversary mass was celebrated in the very church where Father Teilhard had celebrated his first mass, St Mary Star of the Sea, on 25th August 1911, and it was a great moment of emotion, especially as the ceremony included many passages from "The Mass on the World". The event included 4 talks, by Dr David Grumett (University of Cambridge), Prof. Ursula King (University of Bristol), Nicole Timbal, from Association française des Amis de Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, and Gérard Donnadieu, President of said Association.

We also wish to draw your attention to the Conference-Exhibit-Debate on the theme "Building the Earth together" which will take place from 29 September to 20 October 2011 at Saint-Maur des Fossés (94), near Paris, modelled after our previous meetings held at the Mairie du XVIème arrondissement de Paris in October 2010 and at the Collège of Tivoli at Bordeaux in April 2011. Click here to read the press release announcing that event.
And let us not forget the next great one: the conference that will take place at Collège des Bernardins in Paris on 4 and 5 November 2011, within the programme "The Great Names of Tradition", with the following topic "Hope to the test of evil: a dialogue with Teilhard de Chardin". We shall send you all relevant details with our next mail.
I send you my best wishes,
