SUMMARY:Green Saints for a Green Generation
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Libby Osgood\, CND\, PhD with Celia Ashton\, Amirah Orozco\, and Flora x. Tang \nJoin us for an online conversation featuring the editor and three chapter authors of “Green Saints for a Green Generation\,” a book written by young Catholic women (scientists\, sisters\, theologians) on “saints”—canonized and not—who connect their faith to concern for our common home. The writers lift traditional saints and contemporary figures (such as Clare of Assisi\, Ignatius of Loyola\, Marguerite Bourgeoys\, Thomas Merton\, Toni Morrison\, and the Martyrs of the Amazon) who provide needed inspiration and hope for our ecological journeys and encourage all of us (young and old) to become green saints. By connecting these key figures to environmental responsibility\, the contributors encourage the not-yet informed to become active\, inviting younger generations to join the ecological movement\, to take on the responsibility from their elders\, and to shoulder the ecological burden for themselves. \n  \nOrder the book here: https://orbisbooks.com/products/green-saints-for-a-green-generation \nRegister on Zoom: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/7SmrSHyjTlugSe3BY9SzvA \n  \nLibby (Elizabeth) Osgood\, CND\, PhD\, PEng (editor)\, is a religious sister of the Congregation of Notre Dame de Montreal. She is also an aerospace engineer who teaches sustainable design engineering at the University of Prince Edward Island\, Canada. Her chapter in the book is on Sr. Marguerite Bourgeoys CND\, a French religious sister and founder of the Congregation of Notre Dame of Montreal.

SUMMARY:Teilhard and Whitehead on Hope
DESCRIPTION:Featuring Jay McDaniel\, PhD and Ernie Tamminga\, PhD \nWe live in a time of need\, where people throughout the world seek visions of hope. This discussion explores the shared vision of Teilhard de Chardin and Alfred North Whitehead\, both of whom see the universe as an evolutionary process with inwardness or subjectivity present from the very beginning. Teilhard emphasizes a cosmic pull toward the Omega Point\, where love becomes all-encompassing\, and describes the emergence of the noosphere—a sphere of collective human thought and consciousness—as a critical phase in this evolution. Whitehead\, similarly\, envisions a divine lure guiding all actual entities toward richer experiences and individuation\, suggesting that love and creativity are not incidental to the cosmos but intrinsic to its unfolding. Tamminga and McDaniel will explore ways in which the two perspectives can be combined to form a meaningful\, scientifically informed\, and spiritually rich vision for human beings at this critical stage in history. \n  \nRegister on Zoom here: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/wBuJGJL-Q9CoEHMNzFVywA

SUMMARY:Growing in Radiance with Teilhard de Chardin
DESCRIPTION:With Kathleen Duffy\, SSJ \nFrancis House of Prayer\n84 Walnford Road\nAllentown\, NJ 08501 \nOne of the most important capacities for those of us who wish to live a truly mystical life is the ability to see. Openness to the other and to the many sensations in our immediate surroundings deepens our ability to access the radiance of Matter’s inner face as well as our capacity to respond to the Divine Presence we encounter within. As we engage passages from Teilhard’s mystical writings\, we come to know the Cosmic Christ as the source of all Radiance drawing the human family toward the light and stirring up passionate desire to join in the work of creation. \nView the flyer.
